Here comes a very interesting story of a girl from Bareilly. She grew up as a girl with low self-esteem but emerged breaking all the stereotypes into a global icon representing our country. Yes, we are talking about our sexy desi girl \u2018Priyanka Chopra\u2019. From a small town girl to the hottest women of 2016, her journey seems to be a fairytale.<\/span><\/p>\n

Start of the journey<\/h4>\n

Our desi girl was born on 18<\/span>th<\/span> July 1982 in Jamshedpur, Bihar to Ashok and Madhu Chopra who served Indian army as physicians. She has a little brother Siddhartha Chopra who is 7 years younger. The family relocated to many places like Ambala, Ladakh, Lucknow Bareilly, and Pune due to her father\u2019s profession.<\/span><\/p>\n

She attended La Martiniere Girls School in Lucknow and St.Maria Goretti College in Bareilly. At the age of 13, she came to stay with her aunt in the USA where she attended schools in Newton, Massachusetts and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During her stay in the USA, she participated in several theatre productions and learned Kathak and choral singing. <\/span><\/p>\n

Priyanka & Racism Issue<\/h4>\n

Very few people are aware that the actress even faced racism issues and confessed being bullied for being an Indian. After three years Priyanka Chopra came back and completed her high school education at the Army public school Bareilly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Miss World 2000 – It All Started From The School Level<\/h4>\n

She won \u201cMay Queen\u201d a beauty pageant at her school. It encouraged her mother to enter her into Miss India 2000. And the conviction of Madhu Chopra was right. Her daughter ended becoming the First Runner Up for the Femina Miss India Contest and later on went on to win the Miss World Pageant in the year 2000.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Miss World and Miss India title brought her a lot of recognition which opened doors of Bollywood industry for her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Priyanka Chopra\u2019s screen debut was not a Bollywood film but a Tamil movie Thamizhan opposite actor Vijay in the year 2002. But Chopra\u2019s role was very limited from the actor\u2019s viewpoint. In 2003 she made her debut in Bollywood as the second female lead opposite Sunny Deol in Anil Sharma\u2019s \u201cThe Hero: Love Story of a Spy.\u201d It was one of the highest grossing films of that year. <\/span><\/p>\n

Andaaz earned her Filmfare for best female debut award along with Lara Dutta. \u00a0She got noticed for the glamour she brought to the role and a new star was born. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2004 Chopra had three releases PLAN, KISMAT, and ASAMBHAV which were box-office disasters. But she bounced back to stardom with Mujhse Shadi Karoge a David Dhawan film starring Salman Khan, and Akshay Kumar. It became the 3<\/span>rd<\/span> highest earning flick of that year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In late 2004 came the turning point in her career The Abbas Mastan\u2019s thriller Aitraaz where she played a negative role.This film has Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. But Priyanka Chopra managed to still the thunder from these two stars and even went on to win the Filmfare for the best female actor in negative role.<\/span><\/p>\n

Priyanka\u2019s Success Streak Began<\/h4>\n

After then, there was no looking back\u2026Krish, Don, Sath Khoon Maaf, Fashion and the list goes on\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Priyanka Chopra has experimented with many characters in her films. Once she mentioned that the only reason to take up Burfi was that the director Anurag Basu thought she couldn\u2019t do such roles. \u00a0Piggy Chops accepted the challenge and nailed the look and did justice to her role.<\/span><\/p>\n

The stunning actress has made her debut in Hollywood as a sexy villain in \u2018Baywatch\u2019. The Rock introduced her as one woman in the world who can handle such pressures. And she was the receiver of Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by the Republic of India recently.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • She often speaks out about women issues like female infanticide, education for a girl child and is a strong believer of feminism. She is appointed as UNICEF goodwill ambassador for Child Rights.<\/span><\/li>\n
