Why PlayStation Is Winning the Console War by Online Card Box
The console war has been going on for decades, but we might finally have a winner. Ladies and gentlemen, meet PlayStation, the god of all consoles in the gaming universe.
Most of you (we hope) will agree when we say that Sony has hit the bullseye with every PlayStation to date, especially the PS4 and, hopefully, the PS5. Some of you might disagree, but we’ll try and change your mind.
Since everyone’s buzzing about the console war, we’ve decided to explore the topic from an objective perspective. We talked to the experts at Online Card Box, who had some pretty strong arguments for PS winning the war. Let’s dive in.
The Long-Awaited PlayStation 5 Price Reveal
According to Online Card Box, the long-awaited PS5 price reveal might have won PlayStation the console war’s final battle. From what we’ve heard, many other industry experts agree.
So, what’s the price?
The standard edition of the PlayStation 5 that includes a disc drive will cost $499. The digital edition will be available for $399.
When you compare these price tags to those of Xbox consoles, you’ll realize why the price reveal was such a massive event in the gaming community.
Microsoft’s new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles cost $499 and $299, respectively.
Now, choosing the Xbox Series S over the digital PS5 might save you one Benjamin Franklin bill, but the latter is superior in many aspects. Even comparing the equally-priced standard PS5 and Xbox Series X will show you that Sony wins the race, say the pros and Online Card Box.
Furthermore, both versions of PS5 have the same specs, so both perform the same. That’s not the case with Xbox Series X and Series S. The cheaper edition is cheaper for a reason.
The Price War
Sony went through a rough patch when it released PlayStation 3, which also cost $499. Xbox 360 cost $299 at the time.
In November 2013, when Sony released PlayStation 4, its sales went up, as the console cost $399. Several days later, Xbox One hit the shelves, with a price of $499.
The tables had turned at a dizzying speed, especially since Xbox One was inferior to PS4 in terms of its specs. Just like now, it had won the price war before it even launched the product.
PlayStation Has an Abundance of Exclusive Games
Whether you’re a PS or Xbox fan, you have to admit that the former is better when it comes to exclusives. It has many more exclusive games on offer, all of which are top-notch.
That’s primarily because Sony collaborates with a wide range of Japanese game developers, who are some of the best in the world. Also, Sony isn’t afraid to splurge on its game development because that means more top-quality games.
That’s not to say that Microsoft doesn’t want to invest in its Xbox gaming content. It does, and it keeps launching great games, but rarely any of them takes the world by storm.
According to Online Card Box, Microsoft lags behind Sony because it seems to be focusing more on its cable and streaming services.
In the meantime, Sony has brought Uncharted, Resident Evil, Metal Gear, Spider-Man, God of War, and many other spectacular games to PlayStation. Microsoft should jump on the same bandwagon if it doesn’t want to keep playing catch-up.
UI & VR
The user interface is yet another reason why PlayStation is leading in the console war. Its UI has always been user-friendly, whereas Xbox UI has been a bit clunky and confusing.
Many gamers who like playing in VR also prefer PS to Xbox. That’s simply because Sony has a separate device for VR, as you may well know – PlayStation VR. It’s fully compatible with the console.
Xbox didn’t support VR gaming until recently, but it still isn’t as seamless as on PS VR.
Do you care about great UI, VR, and all the other specs that offer top performance? Then you probably wouldn’t mind adding another $100 bill to get a really powerful machine that PlayStation is. The guys at Online Card Box surely wouldn’t, and neither would we.
What Do You Think?
Do you think PlayStation will win the console war — if it hasn’t already? Are the guys at Online Card Box right when they say that PS is the best gaming console on the planet? Or are you more of an Xbox fan?
