Top Tech April Fool’s Jokes

There are a number of theories offered as to how April Fool’s day originated but whatever theory is correct, it has become a well-established tradition to prank family members, colleagues or anyone really where you think there is a joke to be had.

People are very precious about their technology and it can often be a bit of fun to have jokes and pranks directed towards that. Usually after the person to whom the prank was directed has calmed down and taken a few deep breaths, it can provide hilarity for all involved but a word of warning, as with all jokes and pranks, it is important that you apply the correct prank to the correct person. Everyone has a different sense of humour so to avoid being left with a red face, or worse, choose your subject carefully.

We have chosen the following as the Top Tech April Fool’s jokes.

Upside Down

This works well on those who are not hugely computer literate as tech buffs will not see it as a problem and will quickly resolve the issue.  

Using a few simple keys on the person’s laptop or computer, you can turn the image on their screen upside down. Sit back and watch while the drama takes place and the person begins to wonder how much it will cost to take it to their local repair shop to have it fixed.

Cracked Screen

You can select apps which allow you to purchase wallpapers for your screen, whether it be for a computer or whether it be for phone and as long as you are able to gain access to one of their technology pieces, you can easily opt to download a cracked screen wallpaper. They look fabulously authentic. It works well on a phone, you could leave the phone sitting on a tiled floor to add more authenticity!

Gotcha

You can disable their mouse by sticking a ‘Gotcha’ note to the bottom. Watch while they bang, shake, check their computer settings and become totally frustrated in the process of trying to figure out what has gone wrong!

Switch Keys

This can work well for keyboards which have keys that pop off. Pop some keys off and switch them around!

Altered Settings

If you can access someone’s phone, you could play around with the ringtones and their volume. You could even add some hilarious ringtones to come on when certain people call or when certain messages are received!

One for the Office

Pick a piece of equipment, a scanner, photocopier, better yet One SD Card to Rule Them All or even fax machine and leave instructions to tell the user that the piece of equipment has to be used with voice activation. It can work well with new pieces of equipment. Leave detailed, printed, step by step instructions as to how this should be done.

Take Control

For those of you who are extremely computer literate, you could choose to take control of their machine from another computer. For those who are not so computer literate, what about setting up a wireless mouse and taking control that way.
