The Future of Valiant Cinematic Universe
While the average moviegoer may only be aware of the Marvel and DC Comics universes, other comic book fans will recognize Valiant as another sturdy universe with an exciting future. Thanks to recent DMG investments, including the Chinese Company that helps distribute DMG movies throughout China, the future of the Valiant Cinematic Universe looks promising.
Let’s take a look at some of the projects coming up that will help bring the Valiant Cinematic Universe to the attention of the world.
Bloodshot
In this clip, DMG Entertainment CEO, Dan Mintz, talks about Bloodshot movie and how the problems of the characters are much more relevant to today’s viewers since the Valiant Universe is so much newer than the Marvel or DC universes. Bloodshot will be the first movie released in the Valiant Cinematic Universe and will usher in a universe of characters that moviegoers will find to be very relatable.
Bloodshot stars Vin Diesel as the title character alongside Sam Heughan, Guy Pearce, Eiza González, and Toby Kebbell. Bloodshot is a soldier who was murdered, then brought back to life using nano-computers that turn him into a biotech killing machine. While he can’t originally remember his previous life, memories start to come back and he escapes to discover a massive conspiracy.
Bloodshot is in post-production and is set to release in February 2020. If it does well, there is a whole world of characters banging on the door of opportunity to become part of the next successful comic book cinematic universe.
Other Movies
Assuming Bloodshot is successful, there are a variety of other movies set in the Valiant Cinematic Universe just waiting to be produced. In addition to Bloodshot sequels, other films in the pipeline include Harbinger and Shadowman. Eventually, the Valiant Cinematic Universe could rival that of their competitors.
Being a newer comic book company, the characters are somewhat more diverse than Marvel or DC characters. In an era where Hollywood is trying to catch up with the times, superhero movies with more diverse characters could make quite a name for the Valiant Cinematic Universe and help set it apart from its competitors.
Television Shows
Valiant fans may not have to wait that long to see some of their favorite characters brought to life. A deal has already been signed to bring the character of Dr. Mirage to the small screen with a series set to air on the CW network.
Dr. Mirage is a female paranormal investigator. She can communicate with dead souls, with the exception of the love of her life, who she really wants to reach.
Another TV show based on Valiant characters is being developed by the Russo brothers with TBS. The show would feature the dynamic duo of Quantum and Woody. No release dates have been set for either project as of writing.
Web Series
Valiant Entertainment worked together with Bat in the Sun Productions to create a short, four-episode web series called Ninjak Vs. the Valiant Universe. This web series was sort of a practice run before creating a feature film based in the Valiant Cinematic Universe, but you have to give props to a company that’s willing to venture into other formats outside the silver screen.
The first episode of Ninjak Vs. the Valiant Universe released May 6, 2018, and has amassed more than a quarter of a million views as of this writing. While the remaining episodes have fewer views, 250,000 views in less than a year is a pretty good result for a small, low-budget web series based on characters from the Valiant Universe.
China
DMG Entertainment has a branch dedicated to getting American movies released in Chinese theaters, and since China has the world’s second-largest box office, you can plan on movies being produced that will be popular around the world and not just in the United States. How will this help or harm the Valiant Cinematic Universe? Only time will tell, but it’s certain that the impact will be felt in one way or another.
Superhero movies are extremely popular in China, which may help promote the Valiant Cinematic Universe even if Americans are reluctant to add another universe that might compete with the beloved Marvel and DC Universes.
Going Forward
The future of the Valiant Cinematic Universe looks promising. With Bloodshot set to be released next February and two television shows in development, the world will soon be introduced to the Valiant Universe. With any luck, the Valiant Cinematic Universe will soon start to rival Marvel and DC Comics in popularity.
