Rasam (No Lentil) Recipe
Ingredient –
- Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds 1 tbsp
- Asafetida 2 pinch
- Black pepper 1 tbsp
- Red chillies 3
- Curry leaves 7-8
- Coriander leaves 9-10 strands
- Coriander powder 1 tsp
- Garlic cloves 3 cloves
- Chopped tomatoes 1 medium size
- Tamarind extract 1 big cup
- Green Chillies 2
- Turmeric ½ tbsp
- Salt according to taste
- Oil 3 tbsp
- Water 700 ml
Preparation time 10-15 minutes
Method-
- Take 1 tbsp of cumin seeds, black pepper corns, 3 garlic cloves and 4 strands of coriander leaves to make a thick paste.
- Take a pan, heat 3 tbsp of oil (coconut oil recommended), splutter mustard seeds 1 tbsp, add 2 red chillies, 4-6 curry leaves and 2 pinch od asafetida. Saute well.
- Add the paste into the spluttered spices and mix it well to separate it from oil.
- Add I medium size chopped tomatoes and let it get cooked well till it gets mushy in texture.
- Add turmeric ½ tbsp and 1 tsp of coriander powder, mix well.
- Add 1 big cup of tamarind extract juice to the mixture and stir well and add salt according to taste.
- Pour 700 ml of water and let it boil for 8 minutes. After the soup is well cooked, add final chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
