Summer Makeup Bag Essentials

As temperatures start to rise, the thought of wearing makeup often seems unappealing: it can look beautiful in the morning, only to end up smudged and oily a few hours later. This is why so may women choose not to wear makeup in the summer, or are going for a minimal makeup style to look fresh while they’re out and about. To look good in hot weather, you’ll need to rethink the contents of your makeup box and include items that will make you look fresh and glowing all day long. Ready to get gorgeous? Here are the items to include in your summer makeup bag.

Silicone-based primer

If you’ve got plans to go to the beach or you’re going to be spending a lot of time outdoors this summer, you may want to start sifting through your makeup bag to see it you have items that are suitable for hot weather. Adjusting your beauty routine for the hot summer months means using products that will withstand heat and humidity and prevent your makeup from smudging, fading or melting off your face –  a tactic advised by beauty YouTubers. One of these products is a silicone-based makeup primer. A primer can create a smooth, poreless canvas for your makeup to adhere to, and it also helps your makeup to stay on for hours. After applying skincare, smooth on a dime-sized amount of primer with your fingers; then wait for about a minute before applying an oil-free foundation or BB cream. Set your base with translucent powder or pressed powder to control oil and shine.

Lip and cheek tint

Instead of using a separate blush and lip color, opt for a dual product such as a lip and cheek tint. Most tints offer good color payoff that lasts for hours, and they come in liquid, gel or cream in a variety of shades so you can pick the formula that suits you best. To apply, dot lip stain on the center of your lips with the doe foot applicator. Then, with a tapping motion, spread the color using your fingertips for a natural look. To apply on your cheeks, put a bit of tint on the back of your hand first; then transfer the color to the apples of your cheeks. Blend the tint sideways towards the highest points of your cheekbones for a gorgeous flush.

Lengthening mascara

For a natural and pretty look, skip the eyeshadow, and brush on a coat or two of lash-lengthening mascara. To avoid getting racoon eyes at the end of the day, choose a waterproof formula. If you want to add more definition to your eyes, line your upper lashline with a smudge-proof liner in cocoa, mahogany, or grey.

With the right products, you can have a melt-proof makeup look even on the hottest summer day. Try adding these cosmetics to your makeup bag and look your best this summer.
