Bollywood’s most fashionable actress Sonam Kapoor who surprises her fans and admirers with her fashion quotient was born on June 9, 1985 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Sonam, daughter of actor Anil Kapoor initiated her career as an Assistant Director in year 2004 under Sanjay Leela Bhansali for filming ‘Black’. In year 2007 she made her debut on silver screen opposite Ranbir Kapoor in flick “Saawariya” which failed in box office. Sonam hit her success with romantic film “I Hate Luv Storys” in 2010 and appeared in two blockbuster films in 2013 and garnered several nominations for Best Actress Category in many award events. Sonam is one of the few Indian celebrity ambassadors for endorsing French cosmetic brand L’Oreal.
Sonam is naturally blessed with beautiful elegant looks and sexy svelte figure. However, in her early 20’s, she used to weigh 90 kgs when she came back to India from Singapore after completion of her acting course. On getting offer from Sanjay Leela Bhansali to try her luck in acting for ‘Saawariya’, she became determined and embarked on her target to lose weight and shed all the extra kilos with the help of healthy & strict diet and strenuous workout sessions. Let’s have a close look on Sonam Kapoor’s workout routine and diet plan.
Sonam’s Strict Diet Plan
Sonam followed a real exhaustive diet to lose her weight. She curbed her favourite chocolate, chips and fried fatty foods. She kick starts her day by having a glass of warm water with lemon juice and honey.
Breakfast: Sonam opts seasonal fruits, egg white omelette with a toast, whole wheat bread, protein shake, oatmeal. When getting bored with this diet she goes for poha, upma or idli. She completes her breakfast with a glass of warm water and green tea.
Pre-lunch: Before heading to her lunch Sonam takes some protein shake, brown bread and egg whites as she believes taking small meals over larger few meals is way too helpful for weight loss.
Lunch: Sonam’s lunch comprises of grilled chicken, curd, fruits, seasonal veggies, chapattis of bran, bajra or jwar. She strictly avoids red meat as red meat promotes weight gain.
Pre-dinner: To fight her evening hunger pangs, Sonam consumes brown bread, egg white omelette and fruits.
Dinner: Sonam makes sure her dinner is consumed early so that there will be minimum 3 hours of gap. Her dinner consists of grilled fish, chicken sandwich, protein shake, soya milk and salads.
Workout Regime
Sonam maintains her thin and sexy svelte figure by working out for an hour every day. Her gym regime mainly comprises of cardio vascular exercises. She play outdoor games like basketball and rugby to develop flexibility and to adopt different exercise routines with ease.
- Sonam focuses more on her abdomen, waist, shoulders, arms and legs everyday.
- She starts her day workout with jogging.
- She spends 30 minutes for cardio exercises after jogging.
- Yoga and meditation for 30 minutes each day to lower stress.
- She tones her body by dancing and swimming as dancing is another fun way of exercising and swimming in whenever she gets time to get her upper body fully toned.
- She lifts weight and light weight training helps to keep her arms and legs properly active and toned.
- Sonam is a fan of squash game twice a week as it workouts her overall body.
