Hair is the most vital factor of our beauty, looks and style and when something goes wrong with our hair we just start panicking, worrying, trying out several hair products, natural and clinical treatments to fix out our hair issues but all we do is damage it even more. The characteristics of hair differ from person to person on the basis of length, volume, texture, colour and nature. Hence we all need different treatments to restore and regain the natural hair quality. But there are some common hair habits that we use to do in our daily hair care regime such as hair oiling, moisturizing, hair washing, conditioning, hair styling. The most common hair care habit we all do is hair washing either with normal water or with shampoo, and we all do it almost regularly. So do you know the right way to wash your hair? If you think yes and whatever you have been doing to your hair all these years was absolutely good for your hair then you need to have a quick look down here..
1. Brush your hair to untangle before washing
Before going for a shampoo or hair wash you need to brush your hair properly to avoid any tangles so that when you wash your hair your hair doesn’t get tangled causing hair damage and breakage.
2. Check the water’s temperature as lukewarm
Hot water shower is not good for your hair. Keep your water temperature 35 degree Celsius which is kind of lukewarm perfect for hair wash. Hot water damages your hair drying them out and eroding the natural oil from your hair and scalp.
3. Let your hair get wet thoroughly under shower
All these days if you have been rubbing and moving your hands over your head to get your hair wet properly you are simply damaging them. The right way to wash your hair is just stand under the shower to let the water get through your hair gently and making them wet evenly without any tangles and breakage.
4. Leather up to cover up all your hair
Some people tend to leather up too much while shampooing as they believe more the leather more the softer and cleaner hair but let me tell you that’s totally thumbs down. It is advisable by the hair experts to leather up your hair so that all your hair evenly gets covered up with it. Too much leather can abrade natural oil from your scalp. However, if you have oiled your hair last night or before shampooing you can leather it little more to get rid of excess oil.
5. Gently move your hands and fingers from roots to tip
Never ever rub your fingers and hands on your hair to leather up because this technique can form serious tangles leading to knots, breakage and damage to your hair. Rather gently move your hands and fingers from roots to tips. You can part your hair to both sides to your front to get them leathered easily. Do not try to use your nails to clean up your scalp with leather it damages the scalp making it more flaky.
6. Do not massage your hair with shampoo for too long
As I said before too much of leather can abrade natural oils from your hair and scalp making them dry and flaky. This might end up with too much dandruff and frizzy hair. 30 seconds for massaging while you shampoo your hair is enough, no second round of shampoo is needed.

7. Rinse with water to flow through hair evenly
Again when you’re done with leathering your hair, just relax and stand under the shower to let all the leather get rinsed gently and thoroughly which is absolutely the right way to wash your hair. In this way you don’t tangle up your hair and your hair remains damage free. Make sure your hair is cleaned and rinsed properly you can take more time under shower if it’s needed.
8. Apply conditioner more at the tips
When you apply conditioner make sure you apply it more at the tips and less at the roots because tips are more prone to dryness and damage or split ends. Applying too much conditioner at the roots can cause dandruff. If your hair is dry and damaged keep the conditioner for 1-3 minutes and for normal hair you can rinse out immediately.
9. Rinse the conditioner with cold water
When you rinse your conditioned hair, make sure it’s cold water because warm or hot water can lift up your cuticles and cold water helps to flatten the hair edges down reducing further damage while styling your hair.
10. Wrap towel over hair to soak excess water
After you’re done with your shampoo session, get a towel and soak it through the length of your hair gently and squeeze excess of water out of your hair. Then wrap a towel over your head and hair completely covering all your hair gently to soak remaining water.
