The Captains For Mumbai Indians 

Mumbai Indians is undoubtedly one of the most successful teams in IPL history. But the team had been fairly inconsistent throughout the league. The team did not even reach the playoffs for the first two seasons, but they bagged the IPL title in 2013. Mumbai Indians became the runners-up in IPL 2020.

Until Rohit Sharma became the captain in 2013, the team had to change its captain frequently. Here is Mumbai Indians captain list so far:

1.Sachin Tendulkar 

Before the IPL inaugural edition kick-started, Sachin Tendulkar was announced as the captain of Mumbai Indians. But he had to leave the position in the middle of the tournament because of his injury. In 2010, he led the team to reach the finals. In the next year, the team managed to position itself in the top four. In the 2012 edition of the tournament, Tendulkar stepped down from captaincy, and Harbhajan Singh was named as the skipper. And, after that, Sachin Tendulkar never captained the team. 

2. Harbhajan Singh 

Next on the Mumbai Indians captain list is Harbhajan Singh, who led Mumbai Indians in the start stages of the tournament’s inaugural edition. He was handed the captaincy after Sachin Tendulkar stepped down because of the injury. Under Harbhajan Sing’s captaincy, the team did not perform well. In fact, they ended losing the first four-game of the season by big margins. Later, the captain was suspended from the tournament after slapping Sreesanth during the match against Kings XI Punjab. In 2012, he again led the team after Tendulkar stepped down as captain merely hours before the season’s start. 

3. Shaun Pollock 

After Harbhajan Sing was suspended from IPL 2008 for slapping Sreesanth, captaincy of Mumbai Indians was handed over to Shaun Pollock. Under the leadership of Pollock, the team won all the six matches it played before Tendulkar recovered from the injury and took over the place. With seven wins and similar losses, Mumbai Indians gained the seventh position in the season. 

4. Dwayne Bravo

For the first three seasons of IPL, Dwayne Bravo was in Mumbai, Indian. But in 2011, the player was bought by Chennai Super Kings. In the absence of Tendulkar, Bravo was made captain of Mumbai Indians for one match. 

5. Ricky Ponting 

In the 2013 edition of IPL, Mumbai Indians was led by the legendary Ricky Ponting. But due to the poor batting performance, he was dropped from the team. And Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy in the middle of the season. However, Ricky Ponting returned to the team in 2015 as its head coach. 

6. Rohit Sharma 

Making Rohit Sharma the captain of Mumbai Indians had been the turning point for the team. He has led the team to win four IPL titles and made Mumbai Indians the most successful and powerful franchise in IPL history. He was made captain in the 2013 edition of IPL after Ricky Ponting was dropped in the mid-way. And Mumbai Indians won the IPL title that year. His excellent leadership has led the team to win the IPL trophy every alternate year. He is also the captain of Mumbai Indian in IPL 2021.

7. Kieron Pollard 

Last on the Mumbai Indians captain list is Kieron Pollard. He has been one of the significant players of Mumbai Indians for years now. He became a member of the franchise in 2010 and is touted as the most capped player on the team. Rohit Sharma had been suffering a hamstring injury in the 2020 edition of IPL. In his absence, Kieron Pollard has taken the responsibility of leading the team. 

Mumbai Indians 2021 Squad 

IPL 2021 was postponed in the middle due to the coronavirus outbreak in India and a breach in the IPL bio-bubble.But according to the latest report, IPL schedule is announced and it all set to start where it has left off but with a new location. The rest of the season will be played in UAE, and for Mumbai Indians, the team remains the same. The squad includes:
