New Mothers Should Keep These 7 Things In Mind!
Once you are ready to welcome a newborn, the information related to what you should and shouldn’t do and have starts overflowing. You will figure that what was very important yesterday would be no longer applicable for today.
Furthermore raising a newborn in itself is another experience where no piece of advice would be enough until you experience it on your own. While people mostly tell what a mother should do, there are some things that you should avoid. If you have just become a new mom, or are soon going to welcome a new baby into your home, here are a few things that you should not do when dealing with the new one:
Baby Shopping: Don’t Go Overboard!
When it comes to shopping for the little one, mothers often go overboard and stock up on all things that are not even important for the baby. Of course, that little necklace would look cute; it would be of no use if the doctor has advised to keep it at bay. Also keep in mind that everything cute like clothing, booties, gloves are made for a specific size and after a few weeks will be of no use. So, look what you are buying and then purchase. You can also get free baby stuff if you are not sure if your kid would need that particular thing.
Baby’s Burping:
Once you have a baby, you need to keep up with a lot of things, and one such thing to keep in mind is to burp after feeding. While many moms remember to burp their cute ones, some
accidentally forget. However, if you forget to burp the baby, your baby might end up suffering from gas in their stomach or severe stomach aches, pain, bloating and more.
Frequent Baths: No!
Some moms get the massive urge to bathe the newborn as soon as they return from the hospital. However, doing this can hamper their soft skin. Also, newborns should not be kept in the water until their umbilical cord falls, as it can give rise to many infections and problems with the little one. Further, the infections can be dangerous to the newborn’s immune system. So, just sponge that baby’s skin to remove anything you find filthy.
Water Can Be Infectious For The New One:
Feeding water to your baby will restrain your baby’s body to absorb nutrients that they will get from breast milk or other formula milk. Babies should not start drinking plain water until they are six months old. Also, water doesn’t have any required ingredients that are important for the baby. Instead, it will only make them feel full, and they will not get the nutrients they need to grow healthy.
Forgetting The Children’s Vaccinations:
One thing that parents often feel like skipping is getting their child vaccinated. However, vaccination is something that even doctors suggest and advise every parent to get done. Don’t get into the endless information regarding the vaccination and their safety. Instead, consult your doctor and know the facts. A vaccination saves many lives regularly, and for newborns, it’s a must to keep infections and diseases at bay.
Baby’s Cloth Washing:
While using the regular detergent might be a simpler choice for a new mom, it can put grave effects on your baby’s skin. Baby’s skin is very soft, and anything harsh can break your kid’s skin into rashes. Even worse, it can be very uncomfortable for the toddler.
Leaving Baby With Your Family Pets:
Even if you have a well- behaved pet at home, it’s not safe to leave your baby with them. However, you can leave them under your supervision. Some family pets, who have been taking your love for a long time, often get jealous of the new baby, due to which they can show some signs of aggression. If this happens to your pet, it can be a serious threat to your baby.
Every day is a new experience with the baby. While the above tips will help, most of the things you will experience when you juggle with the baby on your own.
