The most famous quote, “Marriages are made in Heaven”, is one myth we people believe blindly. But, is it true? If marriages are made in heaven, there would be no divorce cases and domestic violence cases piled up in session courts. If marriages are made in heaven, then no women in India would be tortured and burnt alive for dowry. Marriages are made on earth only and it takes some efforts to make it successful, however sometimes it’s not possible to get a successful marriage.
Here are some facts that will make you believe that marriages are not made in heaven.
1. Marriages are made by minds and hearts
Love marriages are made by hearts of two people where, two people willingly get tied in knot and arrange marriage are made by several minds including parents where two people are tied in a knot willingly and unwillingly. Marriages on earth are more like business deals, where people look for more about wealth, fame, bank-balance, physical appearances etc.
2. Love is not the only thing in marriage
Besides love and emotions, wedding plans here includes money, ego, conditions, adjustments, exchange offers and many more. So, when any trouble rises, love is not the saviour here rather it needs much more than love.
3. Marriage oriented illusions
Lot of people think that marriage is all about love, romance, passion, sex, fun, but marriage comes with responsibilities in which no matter how much you give your 100%, there are some people who will find some flaws. Not only this, you have to forget about your priorities and even your choices.

4. Ego issues
In this advanced and well educated society, when two people who are capable of earning get married, there comes the ego problem. One gets jealous or insecure from other, regarding salary, fame and job level. Where’s the heaven part in it?
5. Domestic violence
In most cases, women are demanded with heavy wealth or dowry even after marriage and having kids too. And if the demands are not met by the bride’s end then that’s a serious trouble call leading to the torture for women.
6. Failures in Marriage
As compared to USA, 10% of marriages in India end up in signing over the dotted line. However, marriages are made in heaven is also implied to the marriages all over the globe. In USA, 80% of marriages fail and people get divorce even from their fourth spouse.
7. Differences
People get irritated and annoyed over silly things, which results in suspecting their spouse in order to find out any extra marital affairs. If marriages are made in heaven then, there should be no sign of suspecting one’s spouse.
8. Unnecessary sacrifices
If you need to sacrifice everything for the maintenance of marriage, then it’s better to be single. In most marriage cases, either a wife has to sacrifice everything or a husband. If marriages are made in heaven then there should be equal rights for both men and women.
9. Compatibility
It has got a bigger role. My parents are approaching their 32nd marriage anniversary, but till yet they have no such factor like compatibility. But, somehow the show must go on!
10. Extra Marital Affairs
Most of us have seen it. It’s nothing new about extra marital affairs. People get involved in extra marital affairs right after five to six years of marriage as their heat of love and passion gets fade away, which needs to be reignited anyway. I can’t see anything divine in it.
So, people, stop believing that marriages are made in heaven, as today’s marriages have no strong framework, no honesty and no heavenly essence in it. Get out of this myth and face the real challenge and fact of marriages.
