Life Is Too Short For White Socks

Socks You Can Use
White socks. What’s the point? They’re going to get dirty, you’ll be irritated when they do, and then you’re worrying about something that doesn’t really matter. Also, white socks tend to look gauche, and matching them in the wash takes forever. Certainly there are some uses for them. There can be formal applications, sometimes you’ve got a stylistic proclivity. But should you wear them every day?
At minimum, you’re going to want socks which have different colored portions. Straight white socks tend to be the weakest of all. Think about it critically. What part of your body sees the majority of physical interaction daily? Probably your feet—or your hands, if you’re the type who can’t talk without making a variety of gestures.
The point is this: your feet are going to experience a lot of use. Even if you’re just walking around the house, a long day of cleaning can leave your legs and lower back tired. Now most people are going to wear socks most of the day. Few people tend to wear them when they sleep, but walking about on a regular basis usually includes socks.
When you’re out and about in the world, you’re wearing socks with shoes. These garments will get ripped, they’ll get stained, your toenails will cut through the fabric and leave holes in your socks, things will get stuck in the fibers—do you really want a white pair on daily, which shows every hint of abuse? White socks are the worst.
Colored Socks Tend To Make More Sense Than Just White Ones
Dark or colored socks make a lot more sense. Argyle looks stylish. Black socks look sleek. Not only do they retain their “fresh” appearance longer, such socks tend to get more use because when they do get damaged, they don’t look so bad. It’s easier to wear something that doesn’t seem all worn out and full of holes.
In sports, white socks are especially weak. If you’re playing soccer, you’re going to stain such footwear from top to bottom. You’ll go through multiple packs of white socks a year owing to mud, holes, rips, and more. If you’ve got black socks, you’ll be able to wash them and they’ll stay looking clean longer. The same is true with other colors, depending.
Certainly a pair of neon pink socks will show a lot of wear, tear, and staining; but even these are a better choice than most totally white socks. The key to balance here is getting enough of the right colors to match your needs. You can find all manner of different sorts of sock options, in terms of lightness, thickness, color, and intended use at Elite Sports Socks.
Sometimes black socks are too stark, and you need to go with a gray color, or a pair that have a patchwork of coloration as mentioned earlier. If you’re in mud a lot, why not color-code your socks to match? If your socks are the same color as that which stains them, there’a lot higher likelihood you’ll be able to wash out the stains without being able to tell there was a problem.
Matching The Mess To The Man
Soccer players who get covered in mud on the regular should have clothing which can either be successfully cleaned multiple times, or colored to match their environment. That just makes sense. If you do that, more mileage can be had from footwear that is built to absorb abuse so your foot doesn’t have to.
There are a lot of reasons to be anxious in the modern world, and when your socks constantly look dirty, that’s going to wear on your mind. You’ll buy more socks than you have to, and you’ll have a little point of pecking at your good humor throughout the day. Surely this is intolerable, and the truth is, life is just too short to let the little things control you.
Because life is too short as it is, and why should you spend hours—days, by year’s end—finding dirty white socks that match? Not only do colored socks look better and last longer owing to collateral aspects of their use, and how they are treated by the wearer, but they’re a lot easier to find when you’re doing the laundry. So maximize life, and don’t spend it chasing dirty white socks.
