How to Stop Judging Yourself?

Being judgemental about yourself or even others, clearly manifests your mindset and your thought process that most probably revolves around negativity due to which the judgement process gradually emerges.

Nurturing negative thoughts in your mind can lead to numerous unhealthy emotional and mental disturbances. Only negative thoughts make a suitable environment for all sorts of negative emotions leading to depression, anxiety, self-doubt, toxic relationships, toxic behaviour, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and judgemental attitude, especially judging oneself. It is essential to check and stop negatively judging yourself and others as well to increase your own self-esteem. There are many people who are afraid of being judged negatively by others, but somehow, they ignore the negative judgement that comes from themselves.

Negative self-judgement emotionally damages you leading to all sorts of problems such as self-doubt, low productivity, unhappy marriages, broken relationships, toxic job, depression and many more. Clearly, it prevents you from doing things that you want, or actually love that only isolates you from people leading to loneliness. However, one can lead a more content life boosting their self-esteem only when they stop judging themselves negatively.

Here are the ways how to stop judging yourself:

1. Practice mindfulness

Practicing mindfulness and meditation helps attract positive vibes towards you and your mind becomes emotionally stable as well as you see things clearly and logically. You don’t overthink and get overwhelmed easily which obviously helps you to stop judging yourself.

2. Do know what trigger your negative thoughts

Always remember, the negative thoughts that infest our minds always come from a seed, a seed that triggers your lowest or weakest spots where the bad and traumatic past experiences stay hidden. The moment they get triggered, negative thoughts get constantly bombarded in your mind leading to self-judging and anxiety. Thus, know what are your trigger points and try resolving them first.

3. Live in your present

No matter how hard life is, there is no sense of dwelling in your past. Living your present and giving your best for it can only help you live full which only boosts your self-confidence, self-esteem that never allows you to judge yourself.

4. Everything that happen don’t have a reason

You need to understand that whatever happens in your life, happens for some reason or no reason at all. You can’t find answers to everything. If something happens, let it be, you don’t have to think about it over and over again, why you did it, or why you had to take such decisions? Judging yourself can absolutely turn you into a trainwreck and this happens when you try to achieve control over everything in your life and you fail most of the time. Failing to achieve the control is not worse, the worst thing is the mental state you reach after you doubt yourself and your capabilities. And that clearly directs you towards a phase where you start judging yourself for every single mistake and your mere existence.

6. Don’t be harsh on yourself

Don’t overgeneralize everything, don’t think too much about everything. Whatever happens, be it a mistake, an embarrassing moment, an anxious situation they don’t define you. What defines you is what you do for other people when they are at their lowest times. So, be kind to yourself rather judging yourself.

There are people who take failure and mistakes so seriously, that they start feeling criminal of themselves and they see themselves with no strength. They think they are good for nothing, but the fact is failures and mistakes help you learn and know every strategy of life to fight better and thrive.

Sometimes, our negative thoughts make us way too overwhelmed and they trick us to believe the negative aspect for ourselves, but the truth is negative thoughts are simply the result of low self-love and overthinking that are absolutely invalid and feels real because of our vulnerable situations and mind. 9. Be your own best friend

When you see yourself as your friend, a companion for guiding you, or as a mentor you become honest with your thoughts and actions, doesn’t matter if you indulge in dual tone self-talks where there are two sides of you one negative and one positive. This enables you to help yourself about your doubts and thoughts to check you judging yourself.

10. Practice self-love and self-compassion

Self-love and self-compassion has been an essential emotional strengthening tool to help an individual to grow and improve as a person with all positive thoughts and energy. When you love yourself, you can never judge yourself, because you always choose to be kind to yourself and pamper yourself in your lowest times.
