Easy Home Remedies to Fight Headaches

Headaches and migraines are the most common health problems which affect most of the people all over the globe due to various reasons like stress, lack of sleep, unhealthy diet, oversleeping, eyes strain, excessive smoking and drinking, hormonal changes and sinusitis etc. Headaches are so irritating and painful that they also affect our mood which leads us to take painkillers to get rid of it. However, painkillers do have some long term and short term side effects which could have adverse effects on our body. But, home remedies are very much effective on headaches with no side effects hence natural home remedies are safe for fighting headaches and migraines. Here are some of the home remedies for getting rid of headaches and migraines.
1. Lavender Oil
Lavender is not only mesmerising in its aroma but also has got some medicinal effect on headaches. You can directly inhale the fragrance of lavender oil, or could add few drops of lavender oil in hot water to inhale the vapour of it. This remedy gives you quick relief from headaches and migraines.
2. Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil has soothing and calming effect on treating headaches instantly. You can prepare herbal tea by adding 1 tsp of dried peppermint to 1 cup of hot water and have it slowly. Or you can apply the oil on your head neck and jaws to get instant relief.
3. Apple
Eat one half of an apple sprinkling some salt on it and drink one glass of warm after it. You will be relieved.
4. Lemon
Squeeze half of a lemon into 1 glass of warm water and drink it. This relieves your pain in your head which is caused due to gastric troubles.
5. Ginger
Boil ginger powder or pieces of ginger in hot water and take the vapour for 5-10 minutes. This will give you instant relief from headache.
6. Warm Foot Bath
Soak your feet in considerable hot or warm water in a tub for 15-30 minutes. This will reduce your headache distinctly.
7. Ice Pack
Apply ice pack or cold pack on your head which will numb the pain reducing it completely giving you relief from headache. You can apply it on your forehead or on the centre of your head.
8. Hot Pack
Apply hot pack on your back neck, shoulder can reduce headache considerably. You can also soak your hands in warm water too.
9. Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus oil is known for its pain relieving and anti inflammatory properties has soothing effect on headaches. Simply apply the oil on your forehead, neck, jaws or get a nice hair massage with this oil which will give you quick relief from headache instantly.
10. Basil
Take some basil leaves and add to boiling water for 5 minutes, inhale the vapour of the hot basil water for 10 minutes. Or you can simply chew some basil leaves to get your headache reduced.
11. Coffee
Coffee lovers, here’s a good news for you all. You could have a cup of strong coffee which will reduce the blood vessel swelling and helping in right blood flow to relieve headache.
12. Chamomile Tea
The tea which reduces pain by relaxing you with its soothing effect. Dip one chamomile tea bag in your hot cup of water and sip it slowly. This will give you much relax reducing pain.
