Bingo has had a long history since its heyday with traditional gaming houses. Players and hosts were able to make up many words to make the game fun. As a result, bingo’s terms spread throughout the world. Players of any skill level have heard of these words in any game. If you are new to the game, these can help you understand a winning card.
Keep in mind that some of these terms can carry on to E-bingo, the successor to bingo. Some words are not in use anymore, but they use similar terms. Check out these terms as you play the game!
Helpful E-Bingo Terms You Should Know
Here are some terms you need to familiarize as follows:
- Admission Packet – An admission packet is the number of cards you bring in a game. The minimum number of cards is around six (6) to twelve (12) cards. These packets are applicable for regular or special games, depending on the event. The cost of an admission packet varies depending on the bingo hall or online casino.
- Blackout – It is a bingo pattern where you cover the entire card so you can win. For example, 50 to 60 bingo numbers get called to cover the numbers in a packet. However, the blackouts record as few as 43 numbers.
- Card – The card is the main item you use in bingo. There are twenty-four designated spaces and one free space in the center. The numbers on the card are randomly placed and get arranged in columns of five. On top of the card are the letters B, I, N, G, and O. Some countries may use a different grid, such as a 9×3 in the United Kingdom. On the other hand, the United States uses the 5×5 grid instead.
Players have many different numbers on the card to ensure a fair game. To win a game, you mark the number called until a line forms in the card. It can be horizontal or vertical, depending on the combination. You can get many cards, especially in E-bingo PH, to ensure better chances of winning.
- Free Space – The free space is the center square on the card and has no number assigned. All cards have a free space before the game begins.
- Lucky Jar or Cookie Jar – The jar contains cash if you say bingo on the lucky numbers. These numbers are usually called at the start of the game. Money increases every time a number calls or if the caller makes a mistake. However, the jar is present in regular games exclusively.
- Pattern – The pattern is the shape or line you need to form in the card. For example, you should form a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line. If you have all numbers, you cover the card, forming a blackout.
- Wild Number – These numbers are on a double bingo, leading to a triple bingo. The first number at the start determines the wild number. For example, if the caller draws 45, all numbers ending in 5 should get marked off.
Wrapping Up
Learning these E-bingo terms helps you create a strategy for any game. You are on the right track if you see or hear any of these terms. If you are on the winning card, you can do a blackout and get your winnings. The important thing in the game is you form a pattern. Once you have the right numbers, you win the game.
