Habit That Reduce Your Lifespan

We are the mortals and we have a certain fixed time period to live because death is natural and we can’t avoid death. We can’t live forever, but we can opt some healthy habits to extend our lifespan adding extra 5-10 years. To be honest, we are nurturing some mundane habits that are taking us closer to death every single day. Those habits are the hidden killers that are reducing our life expectancy. Living Alone

Living a lonely life becomes too much stressful and full of depression. It increases anxiety and makes you far from social interactions which is too essential for improving mind for relaxation. Living alone reduces the reasons of being happy which affects lifespan adversely reducing the life expectancy.

Socially Inactive

People who are introverts and are quite busy don’t get enough time to get into their friends circle which makes them socially inactive and is a habit that reduces lifespan. Being a socialite plays a crucial role in your life as you become aware of fun, enjoyment and stress free life which adds extra 2-3 years to your life longevity.

Sedentary Lifestyle

Mostly women who are housewives lead sedentary lifestyle as they don’t have too much exposure to work and exercising. They simply get involve in household chores which keeps them far from active lifestyle which shortens the life expectancy.

Sitting too much

If your work is your PC, or you sit all day in your office, then you need to consider the importance of standing up and getting a bit more active. It’s estimated by the JAMA Internal Medicine study that sitting for more than 11 hours  per day increases the death risk up to 40% over the next three years.

Watching more TV

Watching Television just two hours increases premature death risk, heart disease, Type 2 Diabetes according to Harvard studies. The negative effects of watching television overlaps with the potential negative effect of sitting too much which worsens the effect which reduces the lifespan.

Sleeping too less or too much

According to Harvard Medical School, people who sleep less than 5 hours and more than 9 hours get decreased life longevity significantly. Too much or too less sleeping leads to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, dementia, cancer, cognitive memory problems, obesity and early death.

No Exercising

A lifestyle devoid of exercise and workout could lead to serious health issues, According to WHO people who exercise thrice a week have increased lifespan compared to people who don’t exercise. Even, a brisk walk a day could increase the lifespan upto 40%.

Smoking and Drinking

Too much of smoking and drinking could lead to cancer, tumour, ulcers, or kidney failures, liver malfunctioning and many serious health issues which is a common bad habit that reduces lifespan. A 30 year old smoker has life expectancy of 63 years while a 30 year old non-smoker has life expectancy of 83 years. Drinking too much shortens the life expectancy upto 20 years.

Eating more Junk Foods

Junk foods or street foods are the all time favourites of many people who can’t resist burgers, hot dogs, pizzas etc. The truth is junk foods lowers the life expectancy upto 30% according to the University of Washington Institute of Medical Metrics and Evaluation.

Poor Diet

Your diet is the most important part of your lifestyle which keeps you healthy, active and free of all diseases. Hence you diet has to be balanced loaded with all nutritional supplements. But poor diet loaded with too much oil, fats, fried and processed foods, excess carbohydrates significantly reduces your life span upto 30%.

No Humour

People who hold them back to be more socially active are the more depressed ones. Life without laughter or humour decreases life span adding more stress, depression and anxiety.

Not Having Sex

According to the British Medical Journal sex survey men who didn’t have sex at least once a month experienced twice the mortality rate compared to men who were having sex once a week. Having sex burns calories, lowers blood pressure, boosts the immune system and much more. A study according to Duke University also asserted that women who had enjoyable sex lives lived eight years longer than those who didn’t.

Fearing Death

According to a study by US National Library of Medicine, fear of shortened lifespans which is called Thanatophobia could actually cause potential shortening of lifespan in that person.
