Farhaj Sarwar, the philanthropist, and entrepreneur is known for being one of the most large-hearted businessmen in the country. There are numerous initiatives in his name that are aimed at improving the quality of life of not only the girl child but the common man at large.
Working For The Betterment Of The Girl Refugee – Talking About The Fashion Aspect
This initiative by NRS International was no different except for its scale and popularity which were rather huge in comparison to its previous endeavors. Farhaj Sarwar and his team of associates and partners have come up with an endeavor to empower the girl refugee through fashion and nutrition.
It was upon the occasion of World Refugee Day when NRS International and Professor Helen Storey launched the ‘#LoveCoats’ project. The award-winning social artist, Helen Storey is also a designer and researcher at the London College of Fashion, UAL. The entire program gets propelled further by Farhaj Sarwar’s ideology. It was to empower the TIGER Girls girls of Za’atari refugee camp in Jordan. The initiative was to transform thermal refugee blankets into high-end fashion.
Sarwar, the face behind the very popular social activist, welfare, and manufacturing brand, NRS International was commended and applauded upon donating 1,000 meters of thermal blanket material to Professor Storey.
It was a part of the UAE Year of Giving and the durable material that was proven to meet UN Refugee Agency (UNCHR) specifications and standards was highly appreciated by all present at the gathering.
You would be delighted to know that in 2016 alone, NRS International was able to sell close to 4 million blankets of the same category to the most popular and leading aid agencies all across the globe. It was the annual Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition during which this initiative came to light. The entire concept took form after having a detailed conversation with the Tiger girls. The conceptualization happened in Dubai in the gracious company of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Mr. Bin Rashid is also the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Dubai. He could not contain his excitement and pleasure to lead such a summit on his soil.
In the words of Farhaj Sarwar, NRS International Managing Director, “When I first met Professor Storey at DIHAD, I was greatly inspired by her previous projects that use the power of fashion to address the world’s most pressing issues, such as the refugee crisis. Professor Storey explained the fear of the refugee girls of being cold in winter. This led to our collaboration, which is in line with what we offer as a company, namely relief items. It was only a natural response to provide the blanket material. We are hugely impressed with the transformation of how one blanket can become so fashionable.”

It was in Lahore, at The Pearl Continental Hotel where the launch of Minha Edible Oils’ new range of cooking oils was celebrated. This was a fantastic and grand event which was followed by musical performances. The Chief Guest was Mr. Farhaj Sarwar, the Director of Minha Edible Oils. There were other eminent personalities as well including distributors and several distinguished guests that were invited to grace this special occasion with their presence. The event was attended in large numbers by industry leaders from all across the country and the UAE as well.

Speaking at the event was Mr. Farhaj Sarwar, the Director of Minha Edible Oils.
