1. Go for Shopping on Non-Peak Days
Get a track of your grocery store and know which days of the month are busiest for shopping. As on busiest days, the prices tend to be average to high, as the stores don’t have to work too hard to bring in the shoppers. If weekends are the days in which your store remains busy for shopping, then go on the starting days of week, as you will get better deals and pricings. However, this may vary from area to area hence take some time to track the non peak days.
2. Have an eye over Expiry dates
For bakery products or dairy products or meats, don’t pick those items from the front of the shelf or top items. The shopkeepers usually push the soonest to expire to the front of the shelf and stock the fresh stuff at the back. It helps them to sell the items before it expires. Pick the items those have the longest expiry dates so that you will have more time to consume it.
3. Stock up some deals
It’s better and safe to buy staples like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste in bulk, as this will cut back on your future grocery bills.
4. Keep your fridge, pantry and cupboards well organized
Try to avoid your items and staples to be jumbled together. If your items will be disorganized, there are most chances to miss any item or several items that you already have in your stock and you don’t even need to buy them.
5. Try to bend your neck to the bottom shelf
Remember, the goal of every grocery store is to make maximum profit. In most grocery stores, all the shelves are designed to make it easy for us to choose the items that have the highest profit margin. So, look for the better deals on the lower shelf. Also watch for some small shelves that have the lower priced items. Store keepers know it that your attention easily gets caught by larger displays.
