DJ Jesse Neo Launches Startup For Music Producers – Gemtracks

Jesse Neo is a singer-songwriter, music producer and DJ. The 23-year-old Australian is renowned for his catchy pop tunes ever since taking several music production classes between 2016 and 2017. Eventually he went onto collaborate with many prominent record companies and YouTube channels.

Now, the 23-year-old is taking a change in direction by heading into the tech sector by launching a new startup known as Gemtracks and labelling himself a music technologist.

Gemtracks is an all-in-one platform for workers in the music industry. It allows producers and artists to buy and sell beats, book music studios, find music producers collaborate with, and even use a tool to create their own websites to list their services.

Jesse told us the idea for Gemtracks came during the few years he worked as a composer. He recalled to us that he was constantly speaking to executives and managers about how his song should sound like, the royalties he expected to receive, and whether or not he had signed a certain contract. It came to a point he realized the time he spent doing paperwork took longer than actually making music.

Then after his job ended, Jesse desperately looked for another medium, possibly online, where he could offer his service but could not find any. Then the thought of developing his own website lingered in his head. He gathered some friends, built up his tech skills and launched Gemtracks.

Quite unsurprisingly, it was a success. Several freelance and professional beat producers were eager to sign up to Gemtracks within a month, including Pedro Alexander, Lucas Gold, Milana Leybovich, and William Zarate, who have all worked with Sony, Warner and Universal. Then as Gemtracks got marketed, sales of up to $500 started coming into the website. According to current analytics and trends, the highest selling genre is hip hop.

“I think one reason for the popularity came down to the fact each beat can only be sold once,” Jesse explained. “This means buyers can be sure no one else will have the same song as them. And because of the wide variety of completed tracks for sale, the buyer doesn’t not need to contact us individually for something specific as it was highly likely they could find something already on the website that they’ll like.”

Furthermore, as we leant, the copyright and ownership are also automatically transferred to the buyer. This means the buyer won’t need to credit the original producer or pay them any additional royalties.

When asked about the future of Gemtracks, Jesse was excited to respond: “I want Gemtracks to be the ultimate tech company for musicians. I know technology and music doesn’t really fit into the same sentence. I mean, most of my friends don’t even know how to create a website. But I want this to change.”

Based on what we can see, this seems like an excellent project. If Gemtracks sounds interesting to you, make sure to head over to buy instrumentals.
