This post was last updated on September 20th, 2024

Signs of an imminent divorce are usually not hidden from both partners. If these signs aren’t addressed earlier, problems will start knocking. It begins with frequent moving in and out of your matrimonial home, anger due to unresolved issues, verbal and physical fights, to mention a few. Sometimes these signs come in bits that you wouldn’t see a looming divorce. All you may get is a sudden filed divorce from your partner, which might send you into a shock. Since divorce is a devastating process, it’s better to detect the early signs and stop it if it’s possible.

So, what are some of the ways one can stop a divorce?

Get ready for action

If you want to save your marriage, relax, and find an action plan. Whatever plan you make, ensure it will not offend your partner. Consider both your needs and if possible talk to a counselor to guide you.

Don’t play the victim

Do not play the pity-party thing when trying to win your partner’s affection. You may end up looking desperate and even fail in your attempts. Also, don’t make your partner appear guilty to change the decision of divorce. It will not work and you may end up depressed. However, if you bring positive qualities into your marriage, you’ll build confidence in yourself. This will make your partner see something new in you and have a change in mind. For instance, smile at your partner’s jokes, appreciate simple deeds and increase your action volume more than words.

Simplify all the changes you want to make

Recall all the issues your partner has been complaining about and list them down. Highlight those that almost led to break-up, arguments, or physical fights. Configure the cause of such issues and if it’s your fault, make changes. Also, check your partner’s fault and plan a mature, neutral conversation to see how these issues can be solved. If you are at-fault, change your behavior. But if it’s your partner, plan for a talk that will end in a mutual understanding. It would be best if both of you identified the triggers of problems in your marriage and try marriage counselling to help rebuild your trust.

Improve on your look

Always strive to look your best to rekindle romantic feelings in your marriage. Your partner might see you from a new perspective and ultimately change your mind about the divorce. Invest in new and attractive clothes, do not wear baggy pants, and more. Most likely you know what your partner loves and will find you attractive in. If you have no idea, look for fashion magazines and get that cloth that will suit your physique. This will help you update your style and look good before your partner.

Marriage is a beautiful thing. But to some, it’s a combination of issues and frequently planned divorce. Most couples try marriage counselling to help mend things in their relationships. This is crucial if both partners desire the welfare of their children, and keeping their assets intact.
