Creative Ways to Break The Monotony of Studying

Ways to Break The Monotony of Studying

It is a well known fact that studying for multiple hours at a time is just not conducive to really learning about something and that the best way in which to study is to do so in short, sharp bursts, with a healthy break between sessions. During these breaks it is important that you do something completely different from your studies, and something which doesn’t even relate to what you are studying about. Simply chilling out on the sofa or putting the TV on can tease you into rest mode so those are not good ideas when it comes to your break. These ideas on the other hand can help you to enjoy your break and refresh yourself for the next round of studying.

Gaming

Gaming is a great way to get your head out of the books and give you something different to focus on, and it is engaging enough that you won’t slip into rest mode. The type of game is completely up to you, perhaps you enjoy crosswords and logic puzzles, a PS4 shoot-em-up of even board games with friends. Another way to enjoy your break with games is to try out this casino online and hit the slots, you may even win yourself some money.

Go For a Run

Any form of exercise is a good way to spend your break as it will not only help you to take your mind elsewhere, it will also encourage a good flow of endorphins to start shooting around the body. A favorite pastime of mine when studying was to go out for a 10 or 20 minute run, the perfect way to clear your mind, keep yourself in shape and get some fresh air. Once you get back from your run you will feel energized to hit the books again.

Meditate

Meditation offers so many benefits both long term and short term and doing so in your break between study sessions can really help you to be more efficient when you get back to the grind. Meditation can be performed by sitting in an upright position, closing your eyes and breathing deeply, focussing on the movement of the body as you do so. Through this practice you can declutter your mind and switch your focus to the matter in hand. Meditation will also help you to avoid distractions when it is study time.

Playing an Instrument

Picking up the guitar, sitting at a keyboard or banging away on some drums is a great way to forget about your studies and take your mind elsewhere, to a more creative state. Even if you don’t know how to play an instrument you can spend this time learning something new, which is not based on reading a textbook. Once again this is something which helps your mind to forget about the studies at hand and focus on something else entirely.

The more wisely you spend your breaks, the more efficient you’ll be when it comes to studying.
