Can You Get Rid of Cellulite With Exercise?
The vast majority of women have or will develop cellulite. Age, genetics and anatomical differences cause some women to have more cellulite than others. These are areas that are out of your control.
While there are several very good non-surgical procedures to treat cellulite, many women want to know if they can get rid of it with exercise.
The short answer is no. Exercise and other approaches can reduce the appearance of cellulite, but no treatment or exercise can remove cellulite completely.
Cellulite Treatment
There are several non-surgical treatments for cellulite removal. Some of these include:
- Cosmetic injections – stimulate collagen production in the affected areas by injecting biostimulators to increase collagen production, thicken the skin and increase skin elasticity.
- Cryolipolysis – otherwise known as fat freezing is a proven method of reducing stubborn pockets of fat. It does not target cellulite but has become a favourite for removing stubborn fat.
- Medical Grade Ultrasound – is used to destroy fat cells and tighten the skin. Unlike cryolipolysis, ultrasound seeks to destroy fat cells by dissolving them with heat.
- Ultra Sound & Radio Frequency – combines low-frequency ultrasound with radio frequency waves which target both fat cells and skin texture.
These are all non-invasive techniques which have been used to very good results in an office or clinical setting.
Exercise
Exercise can help reduce the appearance of cellulite. To reduce the appearance of cellulite your goal is to build muscle and decrease body fat.
When designing an exercise program, you want to make sure you are doing a combination of cardio and strength training 4 – 7 days per week. This will help you achieve weight loss and build muscle and strength.
You can also try to get more exercise into your daily routine and increase your overall level of physical activity.
Healthy Diet
If you are battling cellulite by losing weight, eating a healthy diet is crucial. Eat a balanced diet rich in vegetables, fruits, clean protein, and healthy fats.
Avoid high amounts of sugar and high-fructose corn syrup, refined carbohydrates, trans fats and alcohol.
Improving your diet has lots of health benefits. In addition to losing weight, you decrease your risk of heart disease, diabetes, depression, cancer and other diseases.
Eat more collagen. Bone broth contains the nutrients that make up collagen along with important trace minerals and antioxidant compounds. The collagen in bone broth can strengthen skin tissue and help reverse the underlying causes of cellulite.
Supplements
Bromelain and proteolytic enzymes have been used to fight inflammation and dissolve gatherings of cellular tissue. These enzymes can dissolve fibrinogen, the tissue that holds unwanted formations together.
Kola extract has shown some positive results. This is a caffeine-free herb that has relaxing properties and can be taken before bedtime. It helps improve the elasticity of the skin while making it thicker.
You should consult with a licensed Dr. or Dermatologist if cellulite is a problem for you. They can advise you on what course of action is best for you.
