We may only be in February, but the world of fashion is always three steps ahead. If you want to keep up, it’s time to start thinking about your summer wardrobe. That’s right – summer: long, balmy days of sunshine, cocktails and beaches, and fabulous clothing. Here’s what we think you’ll be wearing in summer 2019. These trends are so hot. They’re sure to be Best sellers.

Sure, it may be a while before you actually buy any of this stuff like Dalston Mill Fabrics. If you’re anything like us, you’re still wearing 6000 layers of knit at once, but, hey. There’s nothing like delayed gratification.  

Shorts

Shorts are, naturally, always ‘in’ for summer, but the style of shorts we can expect to see changes yearly. For 2018, cycling shorts were everywhere. For 2019, things are loosening up again (thankfully) with freer-fitting shorts in all sorts of shapes and lengths. Tailored shorts, micro shorts, and even silk board shorts – it’s all about keeping it comfortable this year.

Tight Pleats

Pleats were big in 2018, but this year, they’re set to be a whole lot smaller. This doesn’t concern their popularity, of course, but they will be physically smaller. Tighter and more intricate than last year, the new pleat has serious movement and can change the silhouette of a garment into something seriously dramatic. Who doesn’t love a bit of drama?

Flats – but fancier

If your feet are crying out for a break from skyscraper heels, you’re in luck. This summer sees the return of some seriously elegant flats. Expect bright colors, big bows, and plenty of appliqués.

Tie-Dye

Yes. Tie-dye. We’re as surprised as you are, but this 60s print, long thought to be confined to at-home crafts and psychedelic music festivals, is officially back for 2019. It is, however, a whole lot more stylish, with colorful co-ords and subtly-dyed beachy dresses.

Fringe

Based on how many cowboy boots we’ve seen stomping the sidewalk over the last year, it’s not too much of a shock that fringe remains huge-headed into 2019. Of course, no one wants to be wearing huge boots in hot weather, so migrate your fringe over to jackets, skirts, or handbags to stay on trend while beating the heat.

Neon

Fortune favors the bold, and you’ll undoubtedly need a dash of bravery to rock this season’s neon trend because boy, it’s bright. You can even opt for a matchy-matchy co-ord or trouser suit if you’re feeling super-fancy.

Waterproofs

Unfortunately, sometimes, even summer has rainy days, so 2019’s uber-stylish summer waterproofs are an essential buy. With clean lines and cool color-blocking, you’ll look incredible even if you forgot your waterproof mascara.

Hats

The bigger, the better. All the better to shield your face from the sun!

Sequins

Perennially on-trend, this summer’s sequins range from subtle pastel beading to big, brash, and colorful palettes adorning everything, from trouser suits to evening gowns. Keep it subtle for the day and go blinding for that big night out.
