Apple Makes a Shift with the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR

New iPhone X Series

Apple yesterday announced the release of three new models of its smartphones. These three new devices for this year have come as an official replacement for the iPhone X. The iPhone X was immediately pulled from Apple stores worldwide after the announcement of the new devices, so if you want a new iPhone this year, you’ll have to settle for the new iPhone X series.

In terms of features and sizes, the iPhone XS and the XS Max have the same sizes but with two slight differences, which shouldn’t have an impact on how much you’ll settle for.

The iPhone XR on the other hand is a cheaper option compared to the first two, and for its price, its being super colorful, sporting one or two compromises. Apple made a shift in its pricing scheme by folding this lower model phone into the premium iPhone line.

Speaking of price, the iPhone XR with the lowest storage capacity goes for $799, while the iPhone XS retails at $999. The iPhone XS Max, the one with a 64GB memory costs $1099, and the prices generally rise as the internal storage limit rises.

So it’s safe to say that with one or more of these new iPhones breaking the $1000 mark, apple is, in effect trying to test the purchasing power of the customers, and the coming months will tell if people are really willing to splash cash on an high-end phone. If people are ready to spend as much as they can on an iPhone going over the $1k mark, we would surely see a lot of shift in Apple’s pricing strategy in the future.

Another big shift we see from apple is the move to not make really cheap iPhones look really cheap. Apple has been bitten when they released models like the iPhone SE, iPhone 5C and others, iPhones that are on the cheaper end, but having stark differences in designs compared to mainstream devices. These didn’t last, and people just didn’t fancy them, because it doesn’t look like the model that’s trendy.

John, from techy.ng believes that, With the iPhone XR sharing the same design as most of the costlier versions of the devices, people should be able to buy them since, many times, what holds them back from buying the lower end version of the device is that they can’t flaunt it as much. It makes a lot of sense to make this move, and at a starting price capped at $749, anyone looking to get a new iPhone this year should be able to have an upgrade without breaking the bank.

This upgrade, at a time when phones are becoming more and more expensive is a well-planned one for apple. After turning its naming scheme on its head when the iPhone X was released, Apple released the X family, the pace setter for phone makers.

Apple will be hoping to impress people with the iPhone X family if it really hopes to knock heads with Huawei, which outsold iPhones last quarter, making Apple the third-largest Phone maker after Samsung and Huawei.
