The corsage – it’s a classic accessory that you absolutely can’t go without for your 2019 prom. Date or not, the corsage is an expected and well-respected addition to your prom look and choosing to ignore it is like choosing to ignore prom traditions altogether!
Picking the perfect corsage is the key ingredient to perfecting your prom look – unfortunately, it’s not as easy as just selecting your favorite flowers or what you think might make for a beautiful bouquet. Instead, you’ll need to consider several different factors when picking out your perfect corsage.
We’ve teamed up with JJ’s House Designer Jessica to put together a few tips we believe can help you pick out the perfect corsage to style with your ever-so-glamour prom dress!
Check out a few of our favorite tips below and be prepared to wow with your stunning dress and you’re perfectly coordinating corsage!
Work Together With Your Date
The cool thing about a corsage is that, typically, it involves your date picking it out for you! That being said, you don’t have to have a date to have a corsage (often, going solo and picking out your corsage by yourself can be easier!). When you have a date, though, traditionally, they’ll be responsible for picking out your corsage. If you’re not planning to go with your date to pick out the corsage, try to explain to your date what color your dress is, the overall theme of your look, and even offer some helpful flower suggestions that you think might complement what you’ve got planned. In the end, teamwork will win the day (and get you the perfectly paired corsage you want!)
Remember the Corsage is an Extension of Your Look
As tempting as it can be to do something totally original with your corsage, remember that your corsage is, essentially, an extension of the look you’ve already developed, so try to ensure that either matches, corresponds, or correlates to your current look, somehow.
When in Doubt, Go Classic
If you’re totally freaking out about implementing new and exciting colors, trying out new and unique flowers, or letting your date go wild with your corsage, it never hurts to just run with a classic. You know that soft white flowers, red roses, orchids, gardenias, and hyacinths are all classic picks for the traditional corsage, so give those a try! In the end, classic really can’t go wrong. While it might not be the most exciting or unique corsage out there, it’s likely going to match any trendy prom dresses 2019 perfectly, and that’s what you’re really going for!
Ask the Florist
This might sound like silly advice, but it’s really helpful! If you and your date (or just you) aren’t sure which direction to take your corsage, it’s totally okay to consult with the florist – that’s one of the reasons they’re there. They have the experience, know-how, and trend-knowledge to create the perfect corsage for you and your 2019 prom dress!
