A Scarf for Every Season and Occasion

Styling our everyday outfits can be a fun activity if we’re feeling inspired and excited by fashion options available to us, but sometimes it can give us one of the biggest headaches if we are unsure how to wear things. Often it’s the accessories that bring an outfit to life. You’ve probably heard the phrase ‘you can dress it up or down’ when it comes to more versatile clothing items, right? Think about one of the plainest tee-shirts you have. You could spruce it up with jewelry and a nice jacket to get yourself dolled up for a night out, or chuck on a hoodie and beanie for sports. Scarves are one of those accessories that are not only a versatile, any-outfit-accompaniment but an any-season additional to highlight whichever look you are going for. Let’s take a look at styles and all-important colour palettes out there.

It’s a common thought that floral patterns are only a springtime style, but in reality, flowers can brighten up any outfit, any colour palette, and add a soft yet eye-catching dimension to your look. Yes, there’s no doubt flowers are suited well for a special occasion, a spring cocktail evening, or a wedding, but add this style to jeans and your favourite tee-shirt, suddenly your outfit steps up a notch and has a real character.

For those nights out – summer or winter, you can’t go wrong with rich, deep, silky-toned scarves to bring a shimmer, vibrancy, and emotion to your outfit. Where they lack in warmth they more than make up for in style and sass. These scarves are versatile in colour, the amount ways they can be worn, and pattern, and what’s more is that they’re often so colourful that your outfit need not match or even blend with every colour. Winter, spring, summer or autumn, this style will carry you throughout the year.

Don’t be afraid to take your colour choices into the more ‘exotic’ looks. Wild and wonderful patterns that require a little more time to distinguish, can really enhance your outfit. Mandalas and starry designs create depth and difference and can bring out your eyes and natural lip colours. Mashing up the different colours and tones makes a statement like no other. They shout ‘hello’ as soon as you enter a room, yet blend beautifully with the vibrant colours you’d cross on a beach on a balmy summer evening, or the backdrop of a gorgeous rustic forest.

Infinity scarves (or ‘snoods’) came into fashion a while back but are really taking the fashion world by storm. Often shorter than a standard scarf, the ends are sewn together to create a wrap-around loop ready to be put around you. Soft, textured patterns can neutralise and warm up your look in a second. Don’t afraid of the more ‘rustic’ vibes, especially when you’re out in the park or rural area. The greatest thing about infinity scarves is the fact that not only do they sufficiently cover your chest and neck, but they easily stretch up to cover most of your head almost like a hood. Cover your ears from the wind and keep a sustainable flow of warmth circulating.

Blanket scarves are as cuddly and practical as they sound, and more stylish than you’d think.

Not only are they oversized and therefore big enough to wrap around your whole body, they can also be rolled back up into a cosy, cushioning wrap around your neck and chest. Patterns and colours aren’t such a big deal with this style – it’s all about snuggling into comfort and practicality.

Of course, we could talk for hours about the multitude of scarf designs available today, but it’s important to note that accessories are there for us to play, explore our creativity, and experiment with. Just because most people wear scarves to keep warm in winter doesn’t mean that’s all they can be used for. With fabrics such as wool, silk, and cotton available in endless designs and lengths, there are no limits to the looks we can create.
