If your TV is HD compatible since April 2016 an outdoor TV antenna can receive television in high definition. For the image to be of quality it is advisable to install the rake antenna on one of the exterior walls of the house or against a chimney stack so that the signal received is not disturbed by an obstacle such as a building by example. Attached to a chimney stack or against the gable of the house, installation at height requires the greatest caution. To access the chimney stump, use a roof ladder, and secure yourself to the stump using a safety harness. Always work with stability. Don’t want to puzzle yourself with the process? Mount the antenna elements
List and assemble the elements of the antenna using a flat wrench and a Phillips screwdriver. Observe the indications on the assembly instructions provided by the manufacturer to avoid damaging the components.
Install the straps
Measure the sides of the stump. In a strip, roll cut a strip to the necessary length. Insert the end of the band into the opening of the ratchet which equips the strapping. Clamp the assembly around the stump. Install the mast in the strapping without blocking it.
Depending on the length of the mast, a second banding may be necessary. It must be installed with a gap of 25 cm minimum. In addition, if the mast measures more than 3 m, or if it is installed in a windy area or in a deep valley, the installation must be reinforced by a guy system.
Attach a remote arm
Position the offset arm against one of the exterior walls of the house. Check.
Its verticality with a spirit level then locates the drilling points. Drill and anchor with dowels adapted to the material and the weight of the antenna. Check again the verticality of the arm then screw.
Install the antenna
Connect and orient the antenna: Prepare a coaxial cable by stripping it over 2 cm without damaging the metal braid. Connect it to the antenna’s electronic unit before installing it at the end of the mast. Orient the antenna horizontally towards the transmitter which provides TNT HD coverage closest to you. The HD signal is transmitted horizontally. Make sure that the antenna is not tilted but vertical. Clamp the support plate.

Connect multiple televisions
Living room, bedroom… to distribute the television in these rooms install a distributor. Position it under the roof or in a communication box. Connect the coaxial cable coming from the antenna to the “IN” terminal and the cables which supply the TV sockets installed in the rooms to the “OUT” terminals.
Connect a television not compatible with TNT HD
If your television is not compatible with TNT HD connect the coaxial cable coming from the antenna or the splitter to a TNT HD decoder. Connect this decoder to the television using an HDMI cable (digital quality) or via a SCART socket (analog quality). Start the automatic channel search from the remote control of your decoder.
