Best Tips for Travelling to London

London is not only a key city on the global stage, it is a metropolitan hub with over a thousand years of rich history. It is one of those cities that almost all travelers dream of seeing, or seeing again after the last visit. You want to be prepared for your visit, so here is a list of some of the things to do and some of the things to avoid doing during your visit.

1. Rent an Apartment for Your Stay

If you are visiting London, it’s going to take you more than just a couple of days to really explore and see anything properly, just because of the sheer amount of activities and sites there are. Lucky for you there is great selection here, with awesome accommodation choices for all budgets throughout the city. Who wants to sleep in a hostel with dozens of other tired travelers when you can rent your own apartment in the city center for your entire stay! It’s like having a home away from home and will relieve you of most of the traveler’s struggles.

2. Visit All of The Tourist Attractions

There is Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London, The Eye, The River Thames, a host of museums, theatres with their iconic West End shows, old Roman ruins, and so much more! When you visit, make sure to plan out what you are doing each day because it is so easy to get side tracked by all of the choices you are presented with in this city.

3. Ride on the Underground

London has one of the best underground train systems in the world, and riding on it is a joy unto itself. Riding on the tube will let you see Londoners in their everyday life, travelling to work, going to school, getting through their day. If you like people watching, this is the place to be, and if you want to jump from one side of the city to the other with ease, then you will fall in love with this transit system. Not all of the tube is underground as well, so while yes there are many tunnels, there are also sections where you get to look out the window and see the parts of the city that you are travelling through.

4. Go Shopping

It might seem like a very basic thing to suggest, but one visit to Oxford Street in London will have you loading up on all of the high end stores this street has to offer. It is obviously not the only place to do shopping, but if there is a place that will have what you are looking for, it’s Oxford street. High-end fashion stores, music and instrument stores, book shops, excellent food, technology and more is on offer here.

5. Don’t Do Drugs as a Tourist

So the clubs are pumping, the drinks are flowing and everyone has a good time. Next thing you know you are being handed something that you wouldn’t normally do but hey, it’s a party and you’re having fun. But think first, because there are serious consequences if you are caught as a tourist in possession of illegal substances. Please be careful and stick to legal substances.

6. Don’t Stare At People You Don’t Know

This is a general rule to follow anywhere you go, but it needs to be said that the London public are somewhat reserved in their public interactions. Everyone wants to go about their business and intrusions from strangers can be very rude and may land you in a sticky situation. Try to avoid looking or staring at anyone for long on public transport, don’t give anyone pause to think you are creeping on them and keep to yourself unless invited or you are in need of assistance from someone.
