5 Stars Who Might Return at Summerslam
This post was last updated on August 8th, 2019
WWE Summerslam 2019 is just over a week away and as the excitement builds for one of the most anticipated pay-per-view events of the year, we’re getting a glimpse of what to expect from Summerslam 2019. According to the latest WWE news, there are already some mouth-watering clashes in place with the likes of Brock Lesnar, Kofi Kingston, AJ Styles, all expected feature and battle for their respective titles.
But there are also rumors of various superstars making a return to this year’s Summerslam. With Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff now calling the shots at RAW and Smackdown respectively, expect a few surprise cameos come Summerslam 2019. Among those rumored to be making a comeback into the ring, Bray Wyatt’s name comes out on top.
After almost a year away from the ring, Wyatt is back with a new gimmick which he teased at the RAW Reunion some time ago. Summerslam 2019 will witness the debut of ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt and that is just one of the possible stars who could make a return at Summerslam. Here are our top five picks from the lot:
#5 Roman Reigns
There has been a lot of buzz regarding Roman Reigns’ opponent at Summerslam 2019. As per latest WWE news, the Big Dog will fight it out with Daniel Bryan. Last time these two superstars faced each other at Fastlane 2015, and things have changed massively since.
On the last episode of Smackdown Live, a mystery attacker pushed scaffolding onto Reigns as he was about to issue a challenge for Summerslam. Rumour has it that the mystery man was none other than Daniel Bryan. Now, the duo is all set to clash again and this should be another classic.
#4 Daniel Bryan
Over the past few weeks, Daniel Bryan has been teasing a “career-altering announcement”. He was due to reveal his plans for Summerslam and now it seems he will be announced as Reigns’ mystery attacker.
Bryan recently lost his Smackdown Tag Team title and has suffered a slump ever since. A feud with Reigns would be the perfect boost to get his career back on track. Daniel loves to grab the fans’ attention, Reigns is a fan favorite and do we need to explain further?
#3 Trish Stratus
Trish Stratus is standing between Charlotte Flair and the title of “The best female wrestler of All Time” that Charlotte feels she deserves. Trish instead says “To be the woman, you have to beat the woman” and thus we could have an epic clash of two of the best female wrestlers from the past two decades going toe to toe.
Summerslam 2019 will take place in Toronto, Trish’s home territory and the Queen called out for a worth challenger for her this past week. Who better than Trish, and this match would totally be worthy of a non-title match at Summerslam 2019.
#2 “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
The most anticipated return from a WWE fans’ perspective sees Bray Wyatt feud against Finn Balor. What’s worth noting here is that “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt makes his in-ring debut at Summerslam 2019, while Finn Balor is reportedly going to take a hiatus from WWE after the upcoming pay-per-view.
Hence, Wyatt’s new gimmick is bookies’ favorite to beat Balor and claim a win on his debut. What’s worth noting here that after Balor returns, we could have a “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt versus “The Demon” Finn Balor match. Excited much?
#1 Goldberg
Goldberg will be joining the biggest party of the summer and he is slated to have a match with Dolph Ziggler. Earlier, Ziggler was rumored to face The Miz, however, as per recent developments, Ziggler has been taking shots at Goldberg’s recent slump and the latter is going to have an opportunity to settle matters with Ziggler once and for all.
Goldberg’s last in-ring performance was very disappointing and a potential matchup with Ziggler would be the perfect opportunity for the veteran legend to stake his claim that he remains one of the best in business.
