5 Reasons Why Humane Mouse Traps Are Better Than Others

At some point in our lives, we would inevitably face a problem with mice. Some people are okay with the idea of using kill traps like glue board mouse traps, snap traps, and even resorting to rat poison. A lot of people, though, don’t really approve of this idea, they can’t stand the thought of killing rodents even if they are pestering the household.

Luckily experts have developed a way of getting rid of mice without killing them. This sparked the trend and allowed the birth of a new mice extermination niche which involves using humane mouse traps. Whether you like the idea or you’re looking for an alternative way of getting rid of household pests we have curated 5 reasons why humane mouse traps are better than others.

1. Humane Mouse Traps Are Not Gruesome

Originally used to attract and catch insects, glue mouse traps were discovered to be a lot stickier and can be used as well for catching rodents. When a mouse gets caught by a glue mousetrap, it would grab it by its hairs and skin, it would restrict its movements, the mouse then won’t be able to get any food or drink any water which causes it to starve and dehydrate to death.

What makes it more gruesome is that most of them, out of desperation, chew their limbs off in an attempt to escape the trap, some even tear their skin and leave it on the mousetrap just to free themselves. A humane mouse trap doesn’t do this to a mouse, they are usually just simple contraptions with a one-way door, and there are holes on the body of the trap so the mouse wouldn’t suffocate. And freeing them in the wild is just as easy as pulling a tab, painless and not gruesome.

2. Humane Mouse Traps Don’t Require Poisoning

Poisoning is a very nasty way of killing mice, once they have ingested the poison, it would slowly kill them, and in the process as each one of their internal organs fail one after the other, it causes them unbearable amounts of pain. Also, when the mouse finally dies, it would then smell really bad which would make disposing of it really difficult.

Another problem poisoning brings is that other animals can die of secondary poisoning. In addition, it is also really bad for the environment.

When you dispose of the dead poisoned mouse, other mice and animals would then feed on its carcass and would start poisoning themselves. By using humane mouse traps, the only thing you have to put inside it is a bait, and it’s not even totally required, you can catch mice without using a bait, the bait is only used to increase the effectiveness of your trap to attract rodents. And oh, the bait you can use is edible to humans too, like peanut butter, or even Nutella.

3. Humane Mouse Traps Are Not Torturous

Every mammal has one thing in common, and it doesn’t even matter which species they belong to, it’s their shared capacity of experiencing traumatizing pain and terror. It might never have occurred to you but mouse traps aren’t only released on mice, sometimes, other animals get caught by it too.

Most of the time, when these snap traps are triggered, it doesn’t immediately kill the animal, it will just injure it severely and it would die in so much pain. The nature of the humane mouse trap is just to contain the animal, no pain or torture is going to be inflicted, they have moving room and they can breathe freely.

4. Humane Mouse Traps Are Simple to Use

Most humane mouse traps are indeed very simple to use due to their inherently simple principles, the instructions provided can be followed by literally anyone, not that you even need to. The only work left for you to do is to find the correct position of the trap and discover the correct bait to use to increase the chances that you would attract a catch. Once you set the trap up, the only thing left to do is wait. When you finally get a catch, all you need to do is to take it outside and pull a tab to release the mouse.

5. Humane Mouse Traps Are Environment Friendly

Besides it being kind to the creatures it catches, it is also kind on you, because humane mouse traps are very hygienic. Once you’re done using it, you just have to wash and disinfect it. These kinds of mouse traps conserve the Earth’s resources too because you can reuse them as many times as you want and not have to replace it and buy a new one, just replace the bait after setting your last catch-free and you are good to go again.
