17 Prophecies for Kaliyug That Will Amaze You

In the last chanson of the “Bhagavata Purana” there’s a list of forecasts and prophecies regarding the dark iniquitous times for the present aeon of Kaliyuga.
There are all total 17 prognostications inscribed 5,000 years back, by a great mahatma (philosopher) of Hindu religion Vedavyasa. 16 prophecies out of all are amazing and shocking as they are so true and accurate, however, all the 16 prognostications have a negative inflection. But still, there’s a bright spot of positive hope for all of us which is stated at the end.
Prophecy 1
Religion, Truthfulness, Purity, Resilience, Kindness, Life Longevity, Physical and Mental Strength will all be shrinking day by day due to the powerful impact of the era of Kali.
Lines of Srimad Bhagvatam 12.2.1
“sri-suka uvaca…tatas canu-dinam dharmah..satyam saucam ksama dava…kalena balina rajan…nanksyaty ayur balam smrtih”
Prophecy 2
In Kaliyuga, affluence will only be considered as the sign of a human’s good birth, well behaviour and best qualities. Law and justice will be implemented only on the grounds of one’s strength and power.

“vittam eva kalau nṝṇāṁ janmācāra-guṇodayaḥ dharma-nyāya-vyavasthāyām kāraṇaṁ balam eva hi”
Prophecy 3
Men and women will spend their life together only due to one-dimensional attraction, and glory in business will rely on deception. Womanliness and manliness will be concluded on the basis one’s prowess in sex, and a man will be considered as a brāhmaṇa just by his wearing a thread.

“dāmpatye ’bhirucir hetur… māyaiva vyāvahārike… strītve puṁstve ca hi ratir… vipratve sūtram eva hi”
Prophecy 4
A human’s spiritual standard will be determined solely as per the external symbols, and on that same grounds, people will transform from one spiritual order to the next. A man’s legitimacy will be firmly questioned if he does not earn a wise living. And one who is very smart and dexterous at manipulating words will be known a learned scholar.

“iṅgam evāśrama-khyātāv…anyonyāpatti-kāraṇam…avṛttyā nyāya-daurbalyaṁ…pāṇḍitye cāpalaṁ vacaḥ”
Prophecy 5
A person will be considered as unholy if he doesn’t have wealth, and dissimulation will be accepted as morality. Marriages will be arranged merely by articulated agreement, and a person will be ready appear in public if he has only taken a bath.

“anāḍhyataivāsādhutve…sādhutve dambha eva tu…svīkāra eva codvāhe…snānam eva prasādhanam”
Prophecy 6
A holy place will be taken to comprise of no more than a water reservoir situated at a distance, and beauty will be concerned to depend on one’s hairstyle. Stuffing the stomach will become the primary objective of life, and one who is bold and brave will be considered as truthful. He who can sustain a family will be accepted as an expert man, and the principles of religion will be viewed only for the motive of reputation.

“dūre vāry-ayanaṁ tīrthaṁ…lāvaṇyaṁ keśa-dhāraṇam…udaraṁ-bharatā svārthaḥ…satyatve dhārṣṭyam eva hi…dākṣyaṁ kuṭumba-bharaṇaṁ…yaśo ’rthe dharma-sevanam”
Prophecy 7
The earth will become crowded with all corrupt population, whoever among anyone of the social classes displays himself to be the vigorous and robust and will gain political power.

“evaṁ prajābhir duṣṭābhir…ākīrṇe kṣiti-maṇḍale…brahma-viṭ-kṣatra-śūdrāṇāṁ…yo balī bhavitā nṛpaḥ”
Prophecy 8
Losing wives and properties to raparcious and unmerciful rulers, man will behave no better than mundane thieves, the citizenry will escape to the mountains and forests.

“prajā hi lubdhai rājanyair…nirghṛṇair dasyu-dharmabhih…ācchinna-dāra-draviṇā…yāsyanti giri-kānanam”
Prophecy 9
Tormented by drought, famine and enormous taxes, people will start eating leaves, roots, flesh, wild honey, fruits, flowers and seeds. Affected by drought, people will be completely wrecked and devastated.

“śāka-mūlāmiṣa-kṣaudra-phala-puṣpāṣṭi-bhojanāḥ…anāvṛṣṭyā vinaṅkṣyanti…durbhikṣa-kara-pīḍitāḥ”
Prophecy 10
The denizens will suffer miserably from cold, wind, heat, rain and snow. They will be tormented further by quarrels, hunger, thirst, disease and severe anxiety.

“śīta-vātātapa-prāvṛḍ-himair anyonyataḥ prajāḥ kṣut-tṛḍbhyāṁ vyādhibhiś caiva …santapsyante ca cintayā”
Prophecy 11
The maximum duration of life or life longevity for human beings will be only fifty years in Kali Yuga.

Prophecy 12
Due to the evil qualities of Kali, human beings will suffer badly from shortsight, unfortune, greed, lust and poverty. The women will become impure and will move freely from one man to another.

“tasmāt ksudra-drśo martyāh…ksudra-bhāgya mahāśanāh…kāmino vita-hīnāś ca..svairinvaś ca striyo satīh”
Prophecy 13
In the era of Kali yuga, men will yield hatred, enmity for each other even for few coins. They will give up all the friendly relations, they will agree to lose their own live and even kill their loved ones and relatives.

“kalau kakinike ˈpy arthe…vigrihta tyakta-sauhridah…tyak shyantu ca priyan paran…hanishyanti svakan api”
Prophecy 14
Servants will disregard and abandon their masters, who lose their wealth, even if the master is a saint and honest person with blameless and ideal character. Masters will also disregard, insult and eradicate the confined servants, even if the servant has been in the family from long generations.

Prophecy 15
Cities will be dominated by robbers and burglars and the holy Vedas will be polluted by hypothetical perceptions of agnostics and political rulers will virtually exploit the denizens and the so called saints and priests will be devotees of their tummies and genitals.

Prophecy 16
Men will stop protecting their elderly parents.

Prophecy 17
The only positive hope. Despite of all the negative prognostications, there is only one good and positive quality of this aeon of Kaliyug. Kaliyug which is the ocean of flaws, but one can become free from material attraction and bondage and can be promoted to the spiritual kingdom, only by reciting the names of Krishna.
